117 is the second episode of Season 4 and the fiftieth episode of Teen Wolf.

Synopsis

Scott is anxious to end Kate's plan, but first, the pack must team up with an unlikely ally.

Plot

In flashbacks, young Peter tries to help young Derek to learn to control his werewolf abilities before a basketball game on a full moon. In the present day, Kate is at a gas station restroom trying to fight her shift, but when the manger hears her and refuses to leave, Kate mauls him to death in her Werejaguar form. Scott and his friends take the de-aged Derek to Deaton who is baffled by Derek's regression. Lydia stays with Derek while the others leave. In the morning, Deaton finds out that Derek is healing much more rapidly than usual. Later, as they begin another experiment, Derek attacks Deaton and disappears.

He is later found by Deputy Parrish and Deputy Haigh near his destroyed house. At the gas station, Lydia and Kira find the body of the person Kate mauled to death. Scott teams up with an unlikely source - Peter - in the hopes of putting an end to Kate's evil plan, which involved Kate using Derek to get into their family vault. Peter's plan leads Scott, Malia, and Kira to re-encounter the creatures that attacked them in Mexico, which Peter identifies as Berserkers. Derek reverts to his normal age, but his Werewolf eyes are gold instead of their usual blue. Peter explains to Stiles and Lydia that the whole thing was a heist and that 117 million dollars worth of bearer bonds were stolen from the vault.

It is revealed that Kate has yet to gain control over her Werejaguar transformation, which is why she captured Derek in The Divine Move and de-aged him-- so she could manipulate him into letting her into the Hale Vault to obtain the Triskelion Medallion, which she mistakenly believed to be a magical talisman that would give her control over her shifts.
Derek returned to his normal adult form in this episode for the first time since he was de-aged in The Dark Moon, but with one major difference: his Werewolf eyes have turned from blue to gold. Derek's Werewolf eyes have not been gold since the flashbacks in Season 3A's Visionary.
Additionally, Young Peter Hale (played by Michael Fjordbak) appears in this episode. He last appeared in the flashbacks in Visionary as well.
It is confirmed that the two Berserkers the McCall Pack ran into at La Iglesia are, in fact, being controlled by Kate. They made their first appearance in The Dark Moon.
The Hale Vault is robbed by a mysterious person who stole $117 million dollars worth of bearer bonds from a safe. This money would ultimately be used to finance the Deadpool, as revealed in I.E.D.
Stiles introduced young Derek to Rafael McCall as his cousin "Miguel." This is in reference to the episode Wolf's Bane in Season 1, when Stiles introduces adult Derek by the same name to Danny Mahealani because Derek was then a fugitive from the law at the time.
Peter Hale appeared in this episode. He was last seen in Season 3B's De-Void.
Peter meets his biological daughter Malia for the first time in this episode, though she does not yet know that he is her true father. Peter first learned he had a child in Season 3B's Letharia Vulpina, and first learned his daughter's identity in De-Void.
- Peter also reunites with Kate for the first time since he killed her in Season 1's Code Breaker.
Peter mentions Derek's use of anger as an anchor to his Werewolf transformation. Derek first admitted that this was his anchor to Isaac Lahey in Season 2's Party Guessed.
Scott references his conversation with Isaac Lahey in Frayed when his father asks him if he ate dinner during his "camping trip" and Scott replies "Yeah. Mexican."
This episode marks the first appearance of Jordan Parrish's new partner at the Sheriff's station, Deputy Haigh.

It is revealed that the Hale House has been demolished. Derek explained that the house had been taken over by the city in Tattoo, which is also when the house was last seen standing.
Lydia experiences a Banshee fugue state in this episode when she finds the body of the gas station attendant Kate killed in flashbacks. The last time she had a fugue state like this was in Season 3A's The Girl Who Knew Too Much when she found Deputy Tara Graeme's body at the high school.
There are hints to budding romantic relationships between Scott and Kira and Stiles and Malia in this episode. The former began in Season 3B's More Bad Than Good, while the latter began in Season 3B's Echo House.
Stiles' bat makes an appearance in this episode. It was last seen in Season 3A's Lunar Ellipse.

Trivia

The title refers to the $117 million dollars worth of bearer bonds that were stolen from Peter Hale's safe in the Hale Vault underneath Beacon Hills High School.
- This also reveals that the Hale Family is exorbitantly wealthy, which was not known until this episode.
