ā€œ Hayden: "You know all about the Wild Hunt. How do we get Stiles and the others back?"
Theo: "You can't. The Wild Hunt comes, the Wild Hunt goes. That's how it works."
Liam: "But they're still here... And they're still taking people."
Theo: "That's not possible. They're the Wild Hunt-- they're not just gonna stick around. Unless..."
Liam: "Unless what?"
Theo: "Unless they're stuck."

Trivia[]

  • The title of the episode is a reference to Canaan, which was described as a "ghost town" as a result of the Ghost Riders erasing all but one of the town's citizens from existence and capturing them to become part of the Wild Hunt.
  • According to Chris Argent, there are nine herbs that counteract the nine supernatural venoms in the world, one of which was in the coating of the Ghost Riders' whips, which lashed him several times in Relics; however, if the herbs aren't mixed in the correct way, they will make the venoms more potent and kill the victim. One of the herbs is mugwort, and the antidote requires honey as a binding agent.
  • Lydia Martin referenced the MorrĆgan when talking about Lenore with Malia Tate, stating that the MorrĆgan is a Banshee and that she is associated with the Wild Hunt. In Irish mythology, the MorrĆgan (which is Gaelic for "phantom queen" or "great queen") is either described as a single goddess or a triple goddess, specifically a trio sister goddesses most often known as MorrĆgan, Badb, and Macha. The MorrĆgan is a battle goddess who is associated with Banshees due to their similar gifts-- as a harbinger of death, she shapeshifts into a crow or raven and flies across the battlefield, and she not only has premonitions of the deaths of warriors, but can also influence the outcome of the war as well. The MorrĆgan is also associated with crows, fate, the earth, cattle, and sovereignty, and has been compared to the Valkyries and Norns of Norse mythology.
  • Scott and Malia suffer terrifying hallucinations in this episode as a result of the mystical energy in Canaan.
    • Malia hallucinates that her mother and sister's bodies are laying dead on the ground in front of one of the abandoned houses. After she breaks down in sobs, Theo appears and states that he knows she wishes she had died with them before shooting her with a gun. She falls backward onto the ground between her mother and sister, whose eyes open as they turn on their sides and wrap their arms around Malia. The ground then crumples below them as if creating a grave for the three of them before Malia snaps out of it.
    • Scott hallucinates that his mother has had a large bite torn out of her head, much like the victims of Garrett Douglas, whose skulls he bit through before stealing their pineal glands.
  • According to Noshiko Yukimura, the Wild Hunt has been riding the sky and stealing souls since before she was born, which means that they have existed for more than 900 years.
