Scott: "Okay, Alec... the people that are hunting you? They've got a leader. Her name is Monroe, and she's got a lot of followers."
Alec: "Like what, hundreds?"
Scott: "Thousands-- all over the world."
Alec: "So what are we doing here?"
Scott: "We're meeting up with some people who can help us. Some of them are always with us... others come when we need them. But tonight, we need everyone we can get."
Alec: "Are they all... different?"
Scott: "Some of them are. Some can do things you'd never believe. And others might only be human, but they make up for it by being really smart, or really good in a fight."
Alec: "Who are they?"
Scott: "My friends... My pack. And you can be with us if you want... But you're going to have to fight."

Trivia

  • The Wolves of War is the final episode of the series.
  • This episode ran for roughly 50 minutes, 10 minutes longer than the typical Teen Wolf episode.
  • The episode title is a reference to Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, specifically Act 3, Scene 1, which Gerard Argent recites and Derek Hale finishes:
"Blood and destruction shall be so in use
    And dreadful objects so familiar
That mothers shall but smile when they behold
    Their infants quarter'd with the hands of war;
All pity choked with custom of fell deeds:
And Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice
Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war
    ."
  • It is revealed that while ordinary Humans are killed upon seeing the Anuk-ite's face and turning into stone, shapeshifters, due to their enhanced healing and heightened durability, take longer to die from the process and thus can be saved so long as the Anuk-ite is defeated before it is too late.+++++++
  • The greatest fears of many of the McCall Pack members and allies are revealed in this episode as a result of the Anuk-ite's influence.
    • Stiles Stilinski reveals that his greatest fear is becoming blind, and acknowledged that the fact that they needed to fight the Anuk-ite blind was a "situation of unfortunate overlap."
    • Peter Hale's greatest fear was something happening to his daughter Malia Tate, which ultimately led to him being temporarily petrified into stone as a result of looking at the Anuk-ite when it used her voice.
    • Jackson Whittemore's greatest fear seemed to be something happening to Ethan, as it was his concern for where he was and his current status that caused him to open his eyes and be temporarily petrified into stone by the Anuk-ite.
    • Derek Hale's greatest fear was being manipulated through love, specifically by being manipulated by Jennifer Blake, his former girlfriend who appeared to him in a hallucination and who ultimately tricked him into opening his eyes and being temporarily petrified into stone. It could also be that Derek feared her coming back to life a second time, since he was indirectly involved in giving the Nemeton the power to keep her alive the first time.
    • Scott McCall's greatest fear was that he would failed the people he loved and/or be the reason behind their deaths, a fear which originated from witnessing his first love, Allison Argent, die in his arms, which he continues to blame himself for to this day. As a result, he hallucinated that Void Stiles and the Nogitsune were telling him that everyone was dead before Derek Hale, Malia Tate, and Lydia Martin tried to fight him and bait him into opening his eyes. Finally, he hallucinated that he was attacked by a Berserker, an Oni demon, a Dread Doctor, and a Ghost Rider, and was able to avoid being petrified into stone by stabbing his eyes with his claws so there would be no way to trick him into looking at the Anuk-ite; as a result, Scott was no longer afraid of the Anuk-ite, keeping it from becoming more powerful.
  • The hallucination of Void Stiles implied that looking at the Anuk-ite will drive a person to insanity prior to being petrified into stone, though none of the shapeshifters who were temporarily frozen remarked on this side-effect.
    • It is also implied by the hallucination of the Nogitsune that if Scott opened his eyes, he would see Allison again, though this, too, was never confirmed to be true or false.
  • Scott McCall ultimately figured out that since the Anuk-ite made one of his halves a shapeshifter, he was thereby bound by the metaphysical rules of being a shapeshifter, which includes their vulnerabilities. As a result, he, with help from Stiles Stilinski, were able to trap him using Mountain Ash stolen from Gerard's Armory, causing it to be unable to continue petrifying the pack members and allies and also causing its power to rebound on itself, freezing it into stone.
  • Coach Finstock, in a surprising twist, saved the day by beating up a Hunter with a lacrosse stick and preventing Jackson and Ethan from being harmed by it. It is unknown if he knows anything about the supernatural, but it appeared that he at least knew about the current situation with the Hunters, as he cheerfully informed them that the battle was now over.
  • Alan Deaton was seen showing Mason and Corey his office at the clinic, which is full of vials full of various substances, a variety of plants, and books, suggesting that he may be teaching Mason how to be a Druid.
  • It is revealed that Monroe has continued recruiting for her Hunter army in Gerard's absence, which has now become global.
